EXTERIOR & INTERIOR SPECIFICATIONS:
READ WHAT MOTOR TREND HAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS ASTONISHING VEHICLE: First Drive- 2007 Bentley Continental GTC Whether any GTC buyers will actually work on their tans while flirting with 200 mph is irrelevant, of course. Just as a dive watch depth-rated to 1000 meters easily shrugs off the aquatic perils of the backyard hot tub, the GTC delivers the peerless luxury of being able to tame routine driving chores while most of its capabilities are stowed away in reserve. The twin-turbo W-12 never strains, the huge brakes (the front discs are the largest on any car in production) remain cool under pressure, the quattro-derived all-wheel-drive system meters out torque without slip. On that score, the GTC is much like its Continental stablemates, the two-door GT hardtop and the four-door Flying Spur. But for all their undeniable presence, neither of those cars can touch the GTC's plunging-neckline sex appeal. The GTC is far from being a GT with the roof lopped off. More than half of the body shell is unique to the drop-top, including everything from the A-pillars aft. The trunklid is higher, the rear seats are lower (there's a tad more rear legroom, too, thanks to scooped-out front seatbacks), the windshield is more steeply raked, and the side glass is new. Trunk space has decreased slightly, but there's still enough room for two golf bags or a healthy allotment of luggage (a rear-seat pass-through provides room for skis). To compensate for the missing roof structure, the GTC is strengthened with steel reinforcements in the door sills, X-braces beneath the floor that connect the front and rear subframes to the body, and a beefed-up windshield frame. The added underpinnings contribute to a curb weight roughly 240 pounds more than the GT's, but Bentley claims the result is best-in-class body stiffness.
